who we are

The 2nd annual Gala night was a smashing success raising over 50K for the foundation.   We extend a very warm and huge thank you to all of our sponsors for this event, all the committee members and staff that made this event possible and most importantly all of our generous guests that attended the Gala.

The venue for the 2014 Gala was The Art Gallery Of Calgary. The space was a beautiful 4 level split and thanks to our wonderful creative committee and help from some of our sponsors like Orange Frog Productions the space was transformed into something totally unique and exceptionally different. The event was filled with a classy and fun atmosphere all night long.  From the moment you walked into the red carpet, you received champagne, chocolate and a warm VIP greeting.  As you worked your way into the venue over the first 3 floors there were lights, stages, performers, live-artists, photo booths, activaties and musicians! The silent acution was the best to date with some large ticket items such as West Jet Fly Anywhere tickets, spa packages, chef's dinners and amazing art work. There was definitely something for everyone that night!

The night wouldn’t have been complete without everyone knowing why they were there and what they were supporting.  Along with speeches by our Nominations Committee head Melinda Gebraad and our founding chair Doug Cabral, this year we had a brave and really eye-opening speech from a mom of one of our family recipients Rachael O’Neill.  There were tears, laughter and a real discussion buzzing around the room after those speeches.  People realized just how much this foundation does to help families and even more importantly how desperate the need is locally for this type of support.

A couple last thank you’s to all the silent auction donors and to our volunteers, who were nothing short of amazing and truly giving of themselves that night!  We would also like to thank our Gold Sponsor the Salt Lik and beverage coordinator Cynthia Chan for their generous contribution of food, resources, staff and funds towards this event. Thanks to our Silver sponsor Progress Energy Canada Ltd for the sizeable donation as well as families that gifted the foundation $10, 000 for this night.   Thank you to all who made this night such a smashing success, you are kind, you are generous and your are the reason we can continue helping local families.

The event next year promises to be another unique and wonderful FUNdraising experience for our guests. Come join us on February 7th, 2015 for what promises to be another exclusive and engaging night of entertainment. Please click here for more information.

Our heartfelt thanks,

Doug Cabral
